Ontario Reopens facilities in Phase 2

June 8, 2020

 

Good news, especially for faith communities, amid coronavirus pandemic, Ontario is reopening the places of worship from Friday, June 12, 2020, across the province, with social distancing in place and not more than 30% of capacity.

 

All other facilities in Toronto city and most of the areas surrounding GTA and GTAH would still have to wait until June 19th, or until according to the news.

 

CMHC Predicts home price to go down by up to 18%

A recent forecast from CMHC of a potential decrease in home prices by up to 18% has raised many questions.

First, what are the assumptions CMHC based their report on, what the market stats are reflecting, and what is the rationale behind their thought process, and many more?

Which direction Toronto Housing prices would go post-COVID-19?

In my previous blog, I had mentioned that according to the Toronto Regional Real Estate Board (TRREB)’s report home sales were down by 67% but the new listings were also down with almost the same ratio.

TRREBR Market report April-2020

According to Toronto Regional Real Estate Board (TRREBR)’s report for April-2020, Sales in the month were down by a whopping sixty-seven percent while new listing fell by a similar rate compared to the same month a year ago, 2019.

It is interesting to know that the average home sale compared price to April-2019 was up by 0.1% even though it fell by almost 12% compared last month, March 2019.

Toronto Regional Real Estate Board (TRREB) has released sales figures for pre and post COVID-19 Sales data.

We can see a sharp decline in both sales and new listings from April 1st to April 17th, 2020.

Total residential transactions during the first 17 days in April went down remarkably by -69%.

Total new listings had a similar effect and went down by 64% for the same period.

The latest Real Estate sales figures for March have come out today.

This is important to note that March is the month in which the first 14 days are referred to as pre-COVID-19 and 15th to 31st of March as post-COVID-19. So, it's important to differentiate the two periods to fully understand the report and the impact of COVID-19 on the Real Estate market.

According to the Toronto Regional Real Estate Board (TRREB), home sales in the entire month of March 2020 were up by 12.3 percent compared to March 2019.

While suffering from Coronavirus, CNN’s anchor Chris Cuomo has become the biggest advocate of social distancing to fight against Coronavirus pandemic.

He explained in this interview about his own personal experience, how is he enduring the suffering, what is he doing to fight it out, and what we should be doing to avoid being a victim of this virus.

Interestingly, chicken soup is helping him during this time but he said it may differ from person to person.

The Town of Oakville signs by-law to fine $100K for not following social distancing

It is serious, Oakville Mayor Rob Burton signed a new bylaw on Friday, April 3, 2020, effective immediately, that could slap a hefty fine of up to $100,000 to those individuals who are not following the social distancing guidelines.

The article in InsideHalton.com says;

"Congregating in an Oakville park or sports field during the coronavirus pandemic could now cost residents up to $100,000.
